"The Landmark" by Gustave Baumann
Painting: The Landmark
Artist: Gustave Baumann
Medium: Woodcut
Size: Original Frame
This woodcut has likely never been disturbed since Baumann created it in Brown County Circa 1916 and put it into his handmade frame. It was printed in 6 colors on laid Japanses paper.
The Landmark was a giant tree painted by a number of artists over the years. It was eventually blown over in a storm. There were 49 recorded impressions from a projected edition of 50. Some were dated 1916.
